A Must for Servers & Bartenders

Vino 101's Beer & Spirits is an interactive, student-centered training tutorial that explores beer, distilled spirits, mixed drinks, and other alcoholic beverages. A great resource for employees who are new to the restaurant/foodservice industry, Beer & Spirits is also useful as refresher course for seasoned restaurant professionals.

Beer & Spirits is a complement and companion product to the Vino 101 wine training course, An Introduction to Wine, and should be viewed as an important component of a foodservice employee's complete beverage education.






The lessons cover the following topics:

• Lesson 1: Beer
  Students explore how beer is made, the different styles and characteristics of beer, bottle vs. draught beer and pairing beer with food.
  
  
• Lesson 2: Distilled Spirits
  Students learn about the distillation process and detailed information on different types of distilled spirits (vodka, gin, whiskey, liqueurs, etc.).
  
  
• Lesson 3: Mixers, Garnishes & Glassware
  This lesson details the different ingredients used to make mixed drinks, the different types of garnishes and appropriate glassware.
  
  
• Lesson 4: Making Drinks
  This lesson uses video and high resolution photographs to demonstrate how to make popular drinks, including martinis, frozen drinks, rocks drinks, and shots/shooters. Also included is information on increasing sales, responsible service, and behaviors of a great bartender.
  
  
• End-of-course Assessment
  At the end of the course, students are required to complete a 20-question quiz. Once the quiz is passed, a personalized Certificate of Achievement can be printed.

Since the Beer & Spirits learning tool is Internet-based, students/employees can complete training at the restaurant, their home, an Internet cafe, a public library, or anywhere an Internet connection exists. The course is contained within a sophisticated and secure Learning Management System (LMS) that stores and maintains all training records, making it easy for managers and executives to view training records at any time for the entire company, a specific location, or an individual student.
